We caught up with Jacques a few months ago when he was in the Grumeti Reserve in the Serengeti ecosystem in Tanzania (you can even hear crickets if you are a careful listener). He was there for three months but is normally based in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve in South Africa which is located just outside of Kruger National Park.

Our conversation is a thoughtful one that will hopefully provoke you to think about your interests and enthusiasm and finding more ways to follow them. We learn how despite his studies and, ultimately, becoming a graduate of Economics he followed his interest and enthusiasm which has led him to exactly where he is today and what he does.

Sometimes we need reminders or little nudges to help us remember what we did not know we had forgotten and for Jacques, it was the experience in nature with animals.

As a boy, he had lived in South Africa for a few years and always had an appreciation for it as well as a fascination with the natural world. This episode has advice for those who are going on a safari for the first time as well as a few words about how to “unmute” your senses. We learn about the change in perspective Jacques had when he went from living in a busy, bustling city like Madrid to a nature reserve in South Africa and how he tunes in daily to watch the sunset during what is called a “sundowner.”

May Jacques easy-going attitude and kind approach towards life inspire you to follow your interest and enthusiasm as well as continuing practice to unmute your senses each day.

And, of course, give you insight into what it might be like to be a safari guide!

Remember:

UNMUTE THOSE SENSES!
